FAQ -- Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I have registed to mote a reading - and i am also being read for. Is it ok for me to do a reading myself for someone else during the reading circle?

A: Moting a reading is a good thing. Requesting a from the Reading Circle is a good thing. And, reading for another is a good thing. Each of these activities are praise worthy activities. However, we would not advise doing them all at once.

If you ask a group of friends to push your stalled car it would really be most appropriate for you to be sitting attentively behind the steering wheel of your car, brakes off ready to steer, thus able to best use the help you have requested. Make a cup of tea for a sick friend is a good thing. But if you have arranged to have friends push your car, please respect their effort and be behind the wheel during the time they are pushing. Perhaps you can make the cup of tea for your sick friend later.

Thus, we would recommend that if you have requested a reading from the Reading Circle, go with that. Don't complexify things by trying to do too much at once. It could be like trying to whistle and eat crackers at the same time.

Q: Are there any rules about what I do while Moting? For example, could I also read for another during that time.

Now if you sign up to Mote, we think pretty much anything is fair game. Read for another, or don't read for another. Choice is yours. Moting is simply a statement of intention to support the work of the Reading Circle during the time you are Moting. Naturally it would be most appropriate for you to be honest about how you do that. For example, most likely this would be a bad time to get falling down drunk. Folks will generally agree that falling down drunk is not very supportive. But, you already know this. In fact, you already know pretty much everything that would be counter-productive of your intention to be supportive of the Reading Circle.

So, avoid doing those few things you know would be counter-productive -- at least during the time of the Reading Circle. As far as productive things go that's a different kettle of fish. The list of activities, intentions, and other forms of participation that one can choose to do while Moting is huge. Which one is the best? Don't worry so much about which is the biggest, bestest, most spectacular. Do what presents itself. Pay attention. Take notes. Learn from your personal experience personally experienced, compare notes with fellow travels and even get in a little training when you can. All of that is good and productive. Worrying about is not so productive. So start where you are. Get a little experience, then contact us for where you might go to refine your technique. By then you will have laid the foundation to better process the training. Use our contact form when you get around to that part of the process.
